2012-2013 Debutante Cotillion

The Boston Pearl Foundation, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated – Psi Omega Chapter is pleased to announce that it will host its Precious Pearls Debutante Cotillion in the summer of 2013. The Debutante Cotillion will be comprised of a maximum of 25 young women of color enrolled in grades 9-12 who demonstrate exemplary academic achievement, possess exceptional character and have outstanding involvement in extra-curricular activities and community service.
The overall Program will consist of 6 months of monthly programming modules, with presentations and activities focused on health and wellness, education, leadership development, cultural arts, and community service. Each module will include interactive group discussions based on team building and role-playing exercises. The program will culminate with a black-tie cotillion where the debutantes will be presented to society and receive awards and recognitions. Through these activities, we seek to motivate and educate program participants to grow academically, professionally and culturally.
The Boston Pearl Foundation, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. – Psi Omega Chapter seeks referrals from guidance/counselor professionals serving students within the Metropolitan Boston area. A female student of color who meets the listed requirements as a potential candidate for our upcoming debutante season may be referred.

Requirements include the following:
• Overall GPA of 2.5 or higher
• Statement of Qualifications
• Essay
• Official Transcript
• Application

Please note: A non-refundable application fee of $50.00 is to be submitted with the application. The balance of $100.00 will be due at the orientation. The selection process will be highly competitive.

Complete application packets should be postmarked on or before Friday, November 2, 2012. Application packets must contain all listed requirements in order to be deemed complete.
