John Barros

Massachusetts Convention Center Authority Interim Executive Director John Barros brings more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning economic development, equitable growth, and community impact. In his current role, he oversees the MCCA’s mission of driving economic growth and strengthening Massachusetts’ visitor and hospitality economy through the management and operation of the Authority’s premier venue portfolio, including the Thomas M. Menino Convention & Exhibition Center, John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, MassMutual Center, and The Lawn On D.

 

Prior to joining the MCCA, Barros served as Managing Principal at Civitas Builders, Executive Director of the Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative, and Chief of Economic Development for the City of Boston, where he led the City’s Economic Development Cabinet with a focus on equity and inclusion, job creation, small business growth, and neighborhood revitalization. Widely respected for his collaborative leadership style and deep commitment to community-centered development, Barros has built a career advancing initiatives that strengthen both economic opportunity and civic engagement across Massachusetts.
